2025 has been a long and deeply productive year for us at S.Lab. We made three times more packaging than the year before and grew into a team of 14. Not overnight, nor effortlessly — just step by step, figuring things out as we went.
We spent a lot of time in conversation with the industry. Over the year, we took part in more than 40 events & expos and spoke on stage 15 times. All these sessions became spaces for practical conversations about materials, scale, certification and the future of packaging. At one of these events, our CEO, Julia Bialetska, shared the stage with Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Throughout the year, we met companies exploring how sustainable packaging can move from intention to implementation. Conversations included teams from PepsiCo, Hyundai, Porsche, Groupe Millet, Chanel, LVMH, Bioderma, Hermès, L’Occitane, Chaumet, Hennessy, Tiffany, Clarins, L’Oréal, Huawei, Loewe, Bath & Body Works, Samsung and others. At the same time, we continued working with long-term partners like JTI and opened discussions with early adopters from the food industry, a new and important direction for us.

Recognition followed progress. In 2025, S.Lab received a Green Award from LuxePack and was included in the BE100 startups list by Blue Earth as well as Change 100 by We Make Change. These mattered less as trophies and more as signals that our technology was being understood and seen. Throughout the year, S.Lab was mentioned across international media, including Forbes, Sifted, Morningstar, Tech.eu and others.
From a funding and growth perspective, this year was about building the next layer. We secured a €75,000 grant from Women TechEU, received a £250,000 investment from Morgan Stanley and officially opened our Seed round to support R&D for the mini-factory concept. They are compact, modular production units designed to manufacture mycelium packaging locally, closer to where it is needed.

On the formal side, S.Lab now holds a registered EU trademark and has 3 patents pending. We also reached an important milestone by becoming the first company to obtain home compost certification for mycelium-based packaging.
And last but not least, this year S.Lab also appeared on Nasdaq. It was part of Morgan Stanley’s announcement celebrating their Inclusive & Sustainable Ventures finalists, including us. This moment marked an important milestone for our team and keeps us motivated to keep building. One day, you’ll see S.Lab on Nasdaq again — with that kind of announcement.

There is more behind the scenes and more ahead. For now, 2025 stands as a year where a lot of groundwork was laid, so hopefully we’ll come back with more news soon.
Thank you for following along and see you in 2026!
